Grants Workshops

Many sponsors, especially federal agencies, are placing heightened emphasis on education, outreach and diversity as key review criteria. The Research Division and VT-STEM collaborate to help grant writers build in strong outreach and diversity components that can make a difference in competitive reviews. Presentations will feature an overview of VT's Outreach Resources, discussion of NSF's "Broader Impacts" policy, descriptions of sample outreach programs, and perspectives from faculty who have written outstanding outreach components into their award-winning proposals. Virginia Tech’s Research Division (http://www.research.vt.edu/funding/resources/resources.html) provides up-to-date information about a wide variety of funding opportunities for K-12 STEM education and outreach, including access to funding databases and lists of public and private sponsors. Alert services (http://www.research.vt.edu/funding/resources/alert.html) are especially useful in finding current information about sponsorship.
